Search Site Bookmarklet
I know a post is a little bit of overkill, but my url got eaten. This is simply a port of one of the new features of CyberSearch for chrome. Anyway here is the code.

Native Facebook in Pidgin
If anyone has tried the facebook add in for pidgin knows it is buggy at best. The new XMPP support allows one to communicate directly with facebook. The only tricky part is setting it up. The username field is explained at http://www.facebook.com/username/, and the password is your facebook password. After that just make sure your configurations are the same as mine (note there is no SSL support).

I've been using quix for a little while now, and it has really bugged me that you can't just add it as a search engine. I tweaked the code a little bit so that it works in chrome and firefox as a search engine. Here is the code. If you have ever wanted to get your mailto links to work with google apps, but didn't want to shell out for third party apps, there is a simple program by google to help you do that. It isn't that hard really just go to replacing example.com with your domain. This may require chrome. Have you ever been to a website and just thought WOW that brings a whole new meaning to ugly? Have you ever been to a website and wanted the information, but the website was so busy you couldn't make sense of it all? Facebook is a wonderful example of the second problem (if you don't have facebook skip to the bottom). It is just way to busy. Well there is good news for those of you who can't stand it. They are working on a new version of the website called Facebook lite. This cuts all the third party apps out, removes all but one add, and just makes everything cleaner looking. There is just that one ad... one ad... one ad... aggh! There is more good news! That ad can leave and leave you with a perfectly clean Facebook, unless you have chrome (if you can get it to work let me know). First thing to do is grab a the code to make it look right. Download fbLite.css or fbFixer.css to remove ads on the full facebook too.- Firefox

Firefox Keywords
Yesterday I discovered a highly underrated feature in firefox. Keywords. These can make huge improvements in the browsing experience. For example if I wanted to look up John 3:16 all I have to do is type the following into the address bar (shortcut ctrl + l).bible john 3:16To get to my blog I simply type this word.
blogThis has really made things quicker and cleaner to get to, and isn't that hard to set up either. For most search engines just right click the text box (where one enters search terms). And click add keyword, complete the dialog and your done. For a bookmark just right click it and select properties. All you need to do is change the Keyword field. Happy Browsing!
I’m interested in getting this working. Would you mind posting an example of a functional shortcode with a basic query, id, and arguments? My attempts aren’t yet working. Are there limitations to where you can put this shortcode: in a post? page? sidebar widget??

I found a bug that was probably giving you those problems (It wasn’t you). I updated the SVN, and I am waiting for it to show my changes.
If you want it working now, in the last function at the bottom of the page change the paths in the enqueue section to say dtslider instead of dtSlider.
That got me closer. Not yet sliding or disappearing. I’m looking for conflicts … I noticed that deregistering the default jquery and enqueuing the one that comes with the plugin interfered with my superfish jquery functionality built in with Thematic. So I commented out those lines, to use the default jquery. Superfish is working again, but not the slider … not yet. I’ll look more closely soon to see if it’s my fault.
Must this plugin require a switch to the included jquery rather than the default?
Yes, this plugin requires a different version of jQuery than the one provided by WordPress.
Please try renaming the enqueue jQuery in my plugin to something different and commenting the deregister jQuery line, letting two versions of jQuery to run together. It might mess something up, if it does I will look for another jQuery plugin (besides coda-slider that works with the WordPress version of jQuery) to use in the WordPress plugin.
Today I updated to dtslider version 1.2 and to WP RC 3 today. Worked!
Until I went to the plugins admin page and got this message:
“The plugin dtSlider/dtSlider.php has been deactivated due to an error: The plugin does not have a valid header.”
I’m sure that’s an easy fix. Then later I hope to work on reconciling Coda and Superfish versions of jquery.
Congrats on RC3 Can’t wait till the full one comes out! According to the dev chat it was supposed to be today, but we will see. I really need to set up a script for that… This particular site was behind all set now.
Back on topic. I’m not getting the error, and the SVN has my headers all set. Try deleting the plugin and reinstalling it.
